A friend of mine once said, “Every anxiety we have is a red flag for prayer.” I didn’t come to understand that phrase until recently while asking God, “Why do we live through dark moments in our lives as children of light?” Anxiety is a sense of being out of control and a fear of the unknown. Fear can do a lot of things to a person experiencing anxiety.
For instance, fear creates boundaries. When fear enters our lives, it creates a fortress around our hearts and becomes the gatekeeper to what we’re willing to experience in life. In all honesty, it has also become a hindrance for us, as children of light, to step out by faith into the unknown. Anxiety constructs walls around our emotions, preventing us from connecting with others on a deeper level.
Another part of living with fearful anxiety is that fear distorts our perspectives. Howdo we understand life and our story?
